Brent Hulse Wheeler

Brent Hulse Wheeler, 65, of American Falls, Idaho passed away Feb. 14, 2014, after complications from pneumonia.

Born in Preston, Idaho on August 28, 1948, Brent was the first of four children born to the late Washington Fay and Gwen (Hulse) Wheeler. Brent was a rambunctious little boy full of life, charm and joy. As the eldest son, he protected and guided his younger siblings in all they did. Very athletic, Brent played defense on the high school football team. After graduating from Preston High School in 1966, he attended Idaho State University where he studied welding for a year.

Brent married Nancy McDermott of Clifton, Idaho, on Feb. 7, 1969, in Preston. A few years later, a work-related relocation moved Brent and Nancy from their hometown to American Falls, Idaho. The couple soon settled into their Reed Street home in American Falls where they lived together for more than 30 years.

Brent was a beloved member of the community. All who knew him would be welcomed into his home and life to find peace in his beautiful yard, to listen to his compassionate words of wisdom and enjoy some of his impressive home cooking. Brent was often larger than life. He cared deeply for his family and friends and always had a kind word followed by a sweet chuckle.

Brent is survived by his wife; Nancy; their two children; Toni Lynn Wheeler, of American Falls, Idaho, and Stefan Fay Wheeler, of Pocatello, Idaho; and a grandson, Jace Brent Wheeler. Brent is also survived by a brother; Roland Wheeler, of Pocatello, Idaho; and two sisters, Faye Lynn (T. Mark) Owen of Preston, Idaho, and Edna Ann (Billy) Sparrow of Rexburg, Idaho.

A viewing will be held Tuesday, Feb. 18, from 6-8 p.m. at the Davis-Rose Mortuary, 170 Idaho Street, in American Falls. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. before 11 a.m. Funeral Services on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church located on 352 Roosevelt in American Falls.

Due to allergies and chemical sensitivity, the family requests no perfumes, colognes, scented hand lotion, or flowers. In lieu, individuals may donate to the Idaho Foodbank in the name of Brent H. Wheeler at idahofoodbank.org.
