Brian Gordon Williams, 57, passed away May 19, 2025 at the University of Utah hospital after battling complex health issues for 12 years.
Brian is survived by his wife, Melanie, of 39 years; children Christopher, Julia, Kalen, Cecilia, and Lexi; siblings Michelle, Kirk, and Deanne; parents Richard and Reta; and his cat Kelvin. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, two uncles and an aunt.
Brian was born August 30, 1967 in Burley, Idaho. He spent his childhood in Paul, Idaho, where he attended elementary, middle, and high schools. He graduated from Minico High School in 1985. Brian then attended Ricks College, Brigham Young University, and Utah State University, earning his PH. D. in mechanical engineering in 1997. Brian worked as a professional engineer at Lockheed Martin, Cryofuel Systems, and General Dynamics before moving to Academia. Brian ended his career as a professor at Idaho State University where he was able to inspire many students. Medical issues forced him to leave a job he loved in 2020.
Brian was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in many capacities, including scouts, young men, and elder’s quorum. Brian had a strong testimony of the gospel and he influenced many lives.
The viewing begins at 10:30 am on Saturday, May 24, 2025, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 pm. Both services will be held at the Sheppard Ward building located at 4775 Hawthorne Road, Chubbuck, Idaho.
