Christopher “Chris” B. Koompin, 79, passed away July 18, 2011 at Power County Nursing Home.

Chris was born May 11, 1932 to Thomas and Hedwig Holz Koompin in Blackfoot, Idaho.  He graduated from Idaho State College of Technology with certificates in welding and metallurgy.  He served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of Local 182 Boilermakers of Salt Lake City, Utah, Lodge #12 A.F. and A.M. in Wyoming, Lander Scottish Rite Masons and Korean Temple AAONMS.  He was also a member of the Presbyterian Church.  Chris was an avid rock hound and loved riding with the boys around the farm.

Chris is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marilyn (Lewis) Koompin and 5 children from a previous marriage, Kevin of Blackfoot, Idaho, Kay Ann (Scott) Irby, Lori (Edward) Santiago, Lonny (Tami) and Mary (Brian) Williams all of California, 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, one sister Edna Willette of Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Peggy, Melvin, George, Pete, John, Leona, Vonda and Connie. 

Memorial Services will be held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at Davis-Rose Mortuary with a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Inurnment will follow at Falls View Cemetery with Masonic and Military rites.
