Dorothy May Buzzard

Dorothy Buzzard peacefully passed away at Power County Hospital on May 12, 2013 surrounded by her loving family.
Dorothy is the daughter of Raymond and Lydia (Bauman) Walker and was born in American Falls, Idaho on December 27th 1930, she was the second child to a family of three; older brother, Wesley (deceased) and younger brother, Glenn (Patsy) of Twin Falls, Idaho.  Dorothy attended school in American Falls and then she met and married John Robert Buzzard Sr. on October 3rd, 1948.  He is the love of her life and they enjoyed 64½ wonderful years together.  To this marriage she had 5 children, John Buzzard Jr. (Pat), Sherry Lynn Beebe (Conley), Randy Glenn Buzzard (deceased) (Lanna), Judy May Wallace (Greg), and Patty Sue Barker (Russell).  She was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy raised 5 children of her own and was a mother and “gramma” (Dorothy preferred to spell grandma as gramma, she always said she was ‘ma not grandma) to 100’s of other children throughout her life.  Her occupation consisted of caring for countless children and she loved each of them as if they were her own.  The neighborhood children knew her as “Mom B”, “Gramma”, or “Auntie Dorothy”.  She also worked in the school kitchen for many years in American Falls where she loved and taught many young ladies how to “take care of things in the kitchen”.  She loved to cook and bake, she made the best homemade bread, pies, pastries, jellies and knew they brought smiles to all those who enjoyed them.  She was also a very talented quilt-maker; she made every child, grandchild and great-grandchild a beautiful and unique quilt.  She was famous for her cinnamon rolls and quilts which she so loved to make.
Her family would like to extend a big thank you to Power County Hospital staff and Power County Nursing Home staff for all their love, support and hard work they put forth while caring for Dorothy and her family throughout her stay there.
Services will be held at Central Christian Church, 918 E Center, Pocatello at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013.  The visitation will be Friday from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Davis-Rose Mortuary 170 Idaho Street in American Falls.  Interment will be at the Falls View Cemetery.  No flowers please, Dorothy’s wish is to have donations made to Breast Cancer Society.  If you would like to make a donation, you may visit any Advantage Plus Federal Credit Union.   Condolences and memories may be shared at www.davisrosemortuary.com.
