Edith Prestidge

December 29, 1922 — April 5, 2026

Aberdeen

Edith Langenwalter Prestidge, cherished and beloved, peacefully passed away at the remarkable age of 103 on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, at the Gables in Blackfoot, Idaho. Now embraced in the loving arms of Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior, Edith’s remarkable journey has come to a gentle close.

Born on December 29, 1922, in Newton, Kansas, to Albert and Ida Berger Langenwalter, Edith’s early childhood blossomed with love and care. At the tender age of five, her family relocated to Idaho, settling first in Aberdeen and later Sterling. The Langenwalter family made their home in Aberdeen, where they lovingly operated a dairy. Edith’s days were filled with helping her parents, delivering milk before school, and embracing the hardworking spirit of her family.

A proud graduate of Aberdeen High School in 1940, Edith’s passion for music was evident as she sang in a trio with Marge Westfall and Odella Cornforth, joined the choir, and actively participated in the women’s group. Her generous heart extended into community involvement as she contributed to Aberdeen’s Women’s Club, the local WCTU, and the Aberdeen Senior Citizen Center.

On New Year’s Day, 1941, Edith married her beloved James Prestidge. Together they shared years in Aberdeen before moving to the farm, where Edith found her greatest joy: being a devoted wife, nurturing mother, and loving grandmother.

Edith was preceded in death by her dear parents Albert and Ida; her loving husband James “Jim” Prestidge, her brother Arthur; her second child Barbara; and her great-granddaughter Kristine. She leaves behind a legacy of love with her daughter Ardis (Steve) Parsons of Sterling, her sons Jim (Mary) Prestidge of Aberdeen and Charles Prestidge (Rob Rebigea) of Wilton Manors, Florida. Her spirit lives on in four cherished grandchildren—Boyd, Venys, Michelle, and Tena—as well as nine great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Faith was a cornerstone of Edith’s life. She attended the Mennonite church early on, and after marrying Jim, they worshipped together at the Methodist church, where Edith faithfully held many important offices.

A gifted cook, Edith’s culinary talents especially shined during Christmas, lovingly preserving treasured family recipes. Her love for music cherished not only in her youth but also throughout her life, was expressed through solos, duets with her husband, trios, and quartets at church. Edith’s voice brought comfort and joy as she sang at countless weddings and funerals.

Her warm smile and loving spirit touched all who knew her. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at the Gables, whose kindness and care brought comfort to Edith in her final days. They also thank all who have offered their support and kindness during this time.

Edith Langenwalter Prestidge’s life was a beautiful harmony of faith, family, and community—a legacy that will forever resonate in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.
