Ella Mae Canfield

Ella Mae Weatherford Canfield was born January 13, 1926 in American Falls, Idaho to Archie B Weatherford and Ann Pease Weatherford. She grew up in the Rockland Valley on her parents' ranch. She always talked about the fun things she and her siblings did as they grew up. She valued those memories her entire life. Ella Mae graduated from Rockland High School and Albion College. After graduation, she taught school in Richfield, Idaho. Ella Mae set a great example for her younger siblings by completing college.

On June 30, 1947, Ella Mae married Archie Canfield. They lived in American Falls most of their married life. Together they had six children. She was a lifelong member of the LDS Church and had a fantastic influence on her family in joining the LDS Church, including encouraging her father to be baptized. Ella Mae always enjoyed going to church and appreciated her home teachers and other ward members who brought her the sacrament when her health failed.

Ella Mae enjoyed gardening, quilting, and visiting with her family and friends. She especially looked forward to calls and visits from Phyllis Robinson, Betty Welch, Tamara Corbridge, Edna Whitnah, Dell Davis, Karen and Ben Perkins, and many others. Ella Mae enjoyed talking about the Utah Jazz. Her sharp mind and memory amazed all who knew her. She could recite everyone's birthday, anniversary, and other important dates.

In her later years, Ella Mae's son Terry cared for her. She always talked about how she appreciated all he did for her. Ella Mae was known for being happy with the simple things in life, and she and Archie set a great example for the entire family with their strong work ethic.
