Erwin Schatz 80, passed away at home on Tuesday, November 18, 2014. Erwin was born August 21, 1934 to William and Beda Rosander Schatz. He grew up on the family farm west of American Falls, taking over the farm with his brother Bill when their dad passed away 1947.
He graduated from American Falls High School in 1954, he then attended Idaho State College for one year learning the machinist trade. He enlisted in the Army Corp. of Engineers, serving in Alaska until 1957. In 1958 they drilled the first well on the farm.
He married Audelia on Gonzalez April Fool’s Day in 1985. In that marriage he received the gift of children Reyna and Juan Vasquez.
He is survived by his wife Audelia, children Reyna and Juan, his beloved granddaughter Dahlia Hart, grandchildren Michelle Herbst, Daniel Vasquez, two great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Bill, and the numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceeded in death by both parents, sister Melba Ferguson Adolf and Betty Schatz.
Memorial Services will be held at Saint John’s Lutheran Church 656 Tyhee Avenue, Monday November 24th, at 11:00 am.  Visitation will start at 10:00 am with a meal immediately following the service at the church. Memories and condolences may be shared at davisrosemortuary.com.
