George “Howard” Birrell, passed away on May 29, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on June 7, 1949, in Pocatello, Idaho to Robert (Bob) and Nina (Peggy) Birrell, Howard lived a life rich in love, laughter, and adventure.
An avid outdoors-man, Howard found joy in nature. His hobbies included hunting and fishing, which he often shared with his family. Additionally, Howard had a creative spirit; he was known for his painting and many building projects. With a great sense of humor, he warmed the hearts of those around him, leaving behind many cherished memories and stories that will be recounted for years to come.
Howard was a loving husband to his wife, Diana Birrell. He is survived by his brother, Frank (Cathie) Birrell; his sister, Ann (Dale) Waddoups; and his children, Scot (Jamesha) Birrell, Brent (Rebecca) Birrell, Christina (Mark) Swanson, Michael (Chrissy) Nelson, and David (Jennifer) Nelson, Keri (Justin) Thomas, and Kasey (Scott) Hamilton. Howard was a proud grandfather to twelve grandchildren, who were a source of immense joy in his life.
Howard was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Bob and Peggy Birrell, and two children, Shon Birrell, and infant daughter Lana K. Birrell. He also mourned the loss of his granddaughter, McKenzie Hamilton.
Though he will be deeply missed, Howard’s legacy of love, laughter, and storytelling will continue to resonate in the lives of his family and friends. A devoted family man, Howard's warmth and kindness touched many, and his spirit will live on in the stories shared and the memories cherished by all who knew him.
A celebration of life service will take place on June 22, 2025 at Powerhouse Church, 2905 Sunbeam Rd., American Falls at 3:30 p.m. Please join us to honor Howard's memory. A potluck will follow the service.
