Grace Margaret May Thomas, resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado; born November 9, 1916 in Rockland, Idaho passed away on January 20th, 2015 in Colorado Springs.

Grace was raised in Rockland, Idaho. She worked hard on the farm and loved to read and ride horses.  
After graduating from Rockland High School she attended The Hollywood Beauty School in Boise, Idaho.  She practiced as a beautician for several years.  

Grace married John Gamble Thomas on November 24, 1938 in Pocatello, Idaho.  Their son, John Randal Thomas was born and died in 1941.

Grace worked at the Remington Arms Plant in Salt Lake City during World War II.

In 1948 John and Grace adopted Penelope Louise.  Grace stayed home and cared for Penny.  

From 1958 to 1967 Grace was an active member of the Sweet Adeline’s, singing in many competitions.
In Pocatello, she volunteered at the Bannock County Hospital as a “Pink Lady”.

In 1964 John and Grace divorced.  Grace followed Penny and her family to Spokane, WA.  She lived there for many years, enjoying her grandchildren.  

Grace was a cancer survivor.  In 1996 she was diagnosed with breast cancer. After receiving radiation treatments, the cancer never returned.

Grace is adored by her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She has a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the beauty of nature, the value of good books, and the importance of family. We love you, Grace Margaret May Thomas.  Your daughter, Penny, is especially grateful for your devotion, encouragement and support throughout her life.  You were an angel mother and are loved beyond words!

Grace is survived by her sister, Glenna Nelson; daughter Penny Thomas Hays and husband James E. Hays; 8 grand-children; 30 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on January 31, 2015 from 10:00 am to 10:45 am at the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Rockland Ward Building, 405 E. Shoshone  in Rockland. Her funeral service will begin after the viewing at 11:00 am. Interment will directly follow in the Valley View Rockland Cemetery, 1000, Shoshone St. in Rockland.
