Helen Faye Koompin

Helen Faye Koompin,

After a valiant and courageous battle with cancer, Helen Faye England Koompin passed away peacefully at Portneuf Medical Center on Tuesday, May 21st, 2014, with her loving family by her side.

Helen was born the fifth child of Mildred Roper England and William England on October 23, 1937, in American Falls, Idaho.  Helen was the princess of her family with two older brothers who protected and watched over her at all times.  She attended school in American Falls, graduating in 1955.  It was there Helen met Wesley Bob Koompin, her one true love.  Helen then attended Idaho State University until starting her family.  Bob and Helen were married on December 5, 1955, and the adventure began.  Out of their love, three children were born.

Helen enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, traveling and visiting with friends.  Helen’s greatest joy was her grandchildren.  She and Bob attended every event involving their grandchildren.  Helen had a soft heart and kind spirit.  She set an example for her children and grandchildren to follow.  Helen was kind to all she met and was truly one of a kind, she left a legacy of love.

Helen is survived by her husband of 56 years, Bob Koompin of American Falls, her two daughters, Kimra & John  Balginy, Idaho Falls, Robbi & Scott Marchand, Pocatello, Idaho, and four grandchildren, Jared Marchand,  Camille Marchand and Karlee Balginy of Pocatello, and Drs. Lucas & Tawnie Marchand of Salt Lake City, Utah.  Helen is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Her son Robert Kirk Koompin, parents William and Mildred England, sister Betty Lou, brothers Donald, Glenn and Gerald England, and in-laws Dola and Melvin Koompin preceded her in death.

Per Helen’s wishes no funeral services will take place.  Her family will have a celebration of life on May 31 from 3-5, at The Backroom, 176 Idaho Street, American Falls, Idaho.  The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 1275 E Fairfax Road, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84103, in Helen’s name.

We are thankful to those who constantly checked on Helen.  Visits and calls from family and friends were much appreciated.  Thank you also to the Portneuf Cancer Center, Dr. Ririe, Carol Milder NP, and the rest of the staff for taking such good care of her.
