Henry Hornbacher

Henry Erwin Hornbacher, 78, of American Falls, passed into the arms of his Savior on Thursday, May 14, 2026.

Henry was born February 18, 1948 in Rupert, Idaho to Erwin and Alma (Riedlinger) of American Falls. Graduating from American Falls High School in 1966, Henry went on to attend Grimm's Business College, and later Northwest Nazarene College for a year. He transferred to Idaho State University where he received a degree in Music Education and met Rosella Belle Crowder. They married in 1972 and made their home in Kimberly. Henry taught band at Kimberly High School for one year before moving back to the American Falls farm upon the death of his father. In addition to raising wheat, Henry and Rose raised two sons on the farm, Andrew and Matthew. Sugar beets and irrigation were later added to the fields, but Henry's love remained with the dryland, where he enjoyed planting and rod-weeding.

Henry was a gifted musician, and blessed many with his talents, playing organ/piano duets with his sister Phyllis, and singing in various choirs. Henry also enjoyed riding his Goldwing on road trips with his group of motorcycling friends. He was thrilled to welcome three grandsons, and loved spending time with them, attending programs and games and visiting frequently.

Henry is survived by his sons, Andy Hornbacher of Jerome and Matt (Heather) Hornbacher of American Falls, and three grandsons, Alex, Quinn and Levi. Henry is also survived by his sister, Phyllis (Mike) Neu, his brother Albert (Annette) Hornbacher, and nephews David (Janine) Hornbacher and Ben (Audrey) Hornbacher, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 20th at American Falls Community Church, 745 Bennett Avenue. Burial will follow at the Falls View Cemetery. There will be a viewing and family visitation Wednesday from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Falls Community Church or Trinity Classical Christian School, both of which were organizations Henry gladly supported.
