Jack Harmon Adkins, beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend, uncle and longtime resident of American Falls, Idaho, passed away on July 24, 2025, at the age of 64.
Jack was born in American Falls, Idaho on October 14, 1960, to Wesley and Darlene Allen Adkins. He was raised horseback and spent his childhood working at Bowler Ranches between the dam and Lake Channel with his dad Wes and two younger brothers Mac and Kirk. They lived on the ranch, so every day was filled with riding horses, working cattle, farming, and spending time with family. The ranch was an activity hub in the area with cousins, friends and ranch hands. Jack had several foster brothers, George Bailey, Dan Curry, Brad Cooney, Claude Ten Bears, Jerome Otter Robe.
As a teenager, out of necessity, Jack learned to take saddles and tack apart to make repairs to the worn and broken gear. He learned how things fit together just right to make strong and reliable saddles and equipment. He spent much of his life making saddles, bridles and just about anything made of leather. Jack loved to teach others the art and had many young men in is home learning the trade. Jack became a skilled horseman, training horses of all kinds. He especially loved to break teams to drive and train cutting horses. Jack’s first love was horses and was never without a corral full. Wes taught him to shoe horses at a young age, and he was able to put himself through college shoeing horses at Ricks College and Montana Western University where he attained his associates, bachelor’s degrees in education.
Jack has three children, Hannah Lee, Calloway James (Bronco), and Everett Jackson (Buddy). He was blessed with 5 grandchildren, Zaylie, Wyley, Victor, Odessa (Odie), Prescott (Scottie).
Jack was married to Kathleen Barlow Adkins for the past 9 years. They enjoyed raising horses, chickens, goats and neighbor kids. Together they loved to serve and help others. Most of their time together was spent finding opportunities to lift and bless others in the community.
