Janice Maria Edmonds, age 90, longtime resident of Pocatello, Idaho, passed away on November 19, 2025. She was born to Alvin L Funk and Doris E. Mills Funk on May 19, 1935, in the American Falls hospital. She was raised in Aberdeen, Idaho, with many fond memories of those years growing up in a small town. She attended school and graduated from Aberdeen High School and was a member of the First Mennonite Church.
Janice married Wesley Edmonds and had three children: Daniel, Sharon, and Brent. They were a Navy family and moved several times, including living in Waukegan, Illinois, and San Diego, California. The two later divorced.
The children grew up in San Diego and that is where Janice began her career. She served as secretary for a psychiatrist and then served as executive secretary to the CEOs of Jack in the Box for many years. After Janice relocated to Pocatello, she completed the Cosmetology course through Idaho State University and received further training in Beverly Hills, CA. Janice worked for Haas & Co. in Pocatello as a full-time manicurist for many years. She then established her own business, The Nail Works, in her home. She formed many friendships with her clients over the years.
After her retirement, Janice enjoyed some traveling and spending time with family and friends. Through Caring Hearts, she was able to continue to live in her home through the rest of her years. That was her wish.
Janice is preceded in death by her parents, Doris and Alvin Funk, son Brent, and grandson Scott. She is survived by her son Dan (Lori) Edmonds, daughter Sherie Edmonds (John Devine), daughter-in-law Donna Edmonds, sister Marty Freeburne, brother Dean (Sharon) Funk, grandchildren Brian, Matthew, Erin, Whitney, Cody, Britney, Jennifer, Amber, and Jeff, and her great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at First Mennonite Church, 381 West Washington Avenue, Aberdeen, Idaho, on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 11:00 am, with a meal to follow. Burial will be at Homestead Cemetery.
