Jay Elwin Radford, 89, of Rockland, Idaho, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 23, 1936, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Gladys and Loren Radford, both of whom preceded him in death.
Jay was the beloved husband of Louise Radford, and the two were married in the Idaho Falls Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, beginning their life together with a shared foundation of faith, love, and devotion to family. Together, they built a legacy that will continue through generations.
He was a proud father to Jayleen Bowles (Rusty, deceased), Kirk Radford (Dani), Denise Ralphs (Bart), who preceded him in death, and Eric Radford (Angela). Jay was also the cherished grandfather of 12 grandchildren, great-grandfather to 17 great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandfather to 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and Loren Radford, and his brother Zane Radford. He is survived by his sisters, Joyce and Laree.
Jay was a kind and hardworking man, known for his willingness to help anyone in need and his quick wit that brought smiles to those around him. He was deeply devoted to his faith and lived his life guided by its principles. A true provider and problem-solver, Jay spent his life working with his hands and heart. Over the years, he worked as a milkman, a TV and appliance repairman, and in a swimming pool plastering business alongside his cousin, Vardas Radford. He later served as a mill supervisor for the Simpson Pulp Mill in Arcata, California, before returning to Idaho, where he became an independent home contractor. No matter the job, Jay took pride in honest work, service to others, and doing things right.
Jay was an amazing man and will be deeply missed by his family and community. His life of faith and love leaves a legacy that will endure forever.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 -10:45 a.m. on January 27, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Rockland, Idaho. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Valley View Cemetery, Rockland. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.davisrosemortuary.com.
