Jendy Hunter

June 4, 1945 — March 7, 2023

American Falls

Jendy May Hunter passed away March 7th, 2023 at Syringa Place in Twin Falls, Idaho.  Jendy was born on June 4, 1945 to John and Helen Miller.  The family lived in Dubois at the time, but she was born in the Rigby hospital.

She married Ray Hunter on November 18th, 1963, in Pocatello, Idaho.  Together they raised two children on the North Pleasant Valley Road farm north of American Falls.  Ray and Jendy had many adventures in the mountains of Idaho, especially the Copper Basin area.  They enjoyed backpacking, camping and later using four wheelers to continue their travels.

Jendy was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Bruce and Billy and her husband Ray.  She is survived by her brothers Gary Miller and Jim Miller.  She is also survived by her son Steve Hunter (Corinn) and her daughter, Debbie Clay and all of her beloved grandchildren, Dacia, Maren and Blake Hunter and Ben Hanges.

Jendy served as a kindergarten aide at Hillcrest Elementary and as an aide at American Falls High School in the special education department.

After her children graduated from high school, Jendy sent herself to Idaho State University, earning a teaching degree in Special Education.

She taught Special Education at American Falls High School for over ten years before retiring.  She implemented several programs to give the SPED students practical and useful skills in the community.

She volunteered with the Friends of the American Falls District Library for sixteen years.  She was very involved in helping pass the bond that led to an expansion for the library during that time.

The family would like to sincerely thank Brookdale Senior Living in Pocatello, Syringa in Twin Falls and also Heritage Home Health and Hospice (American Falls, Pocatello and Twin Falls) for their expertise and compassion during both Ray and Jendy's last few months.

Jendy chose to be cremated with no service.

A small 'Celebration of Life' will be held in the community room of the American Falls Public Library on March 18, 2023, from 2 to 4 in the afternoon.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Friends of the Library in American Falls.
