John “Jack” Hilby, born on December 31, 1947, passed away on April 21, 2025, in the ICU of Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho. He is remembered as a kind and generous man, whose passions ran deep, especially for riding motorcycles and working on them throughout his life. Jack was an enthusiastic member of the Bros Club, where he shared many memorable adventures on his Harley Davidson, surrounded by friends who shared his love for the open road.
Jack's warmth extended beyond his friendships; he was a devoted husband and stepfather. After marrying his wife, Marilyn, 25 years ago, he encouraged her to embrace the joy of motorcycling by learning to ride a Harley, leading to countless cherished rides together through the beautiful countryside. His family recalls countless instances of his kindness and generosity, traits that defined his interactions with those he loved.
He is survived by his beloved wife Marilyn, along with his step-children: Jeremy Todd of Pocatello, Idaho, Christina Thomson of Idaho Falls, and Tessa Thurber of Idaho Falls. Jack also leaves behind his brother Ed and sister-in-law Julie Olson of Yakima, Washington, who remember him fondly.
Jack is preceded in death by his mother, Carol Bruce; father, John Sherman Hilby Jr.; brother, Wayne; and sister, Linda. His family expresses gratitude to the dedicated team at Portneuf Medical Center for their exceptional care and compassion during his final moments, which provided comfort to them as they navigated through this difficult time. Jack will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
