Johnny Gewarges

Johnny Gewarges, 69, a resident of Pocatello passed away Saturday March 19 in a car accident while coming home from work.

Johnny came to America in 1973 and in 1978 he called Pocatello home. He enjoyed the outdoor life Idaho had to offer. He loved fishing, hunting, and camping, with his family and friends. Soccer was a big part of Johnny’s life; starting from his time as a child playing on the field, all the way through his adulthood when he became a coach. Johnny was friendly and welcoming with all and was adored among the community.

He was proudly employed at ConAgra Foods for 38 years.

He was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife Gladys of 39 years, and his daughters Julie and Mary whom he is very proud of. Johnny’s extended family lives in Sydney, Australia and has always been a big part of his life. He enjoyed traveling to visit as often as possible. He was cherished by his mother and father and brother Robin, and prized by his nieces and nephew; Eva, Angela, and Steve.

Please join The Gewarges family and friends for a viewing and remembrance from 5:30 -7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Downard Funeral Home, 241 N. Garfield, Pocatello. He then will be laid to rest peacefully in Sydney, Australia alongside his mother.

The Gewarges family would like to extend a special thank you to Dan and Todd, who were extremely loved by Johnny and for helping our family through this rough time.
