Kimberly Kaye Ferguson, age 69, of American Falls, Idaho, passed away in her home on Saturday, April 11, 2026. After courageously facing years of near‑constant illness, she ended her battle surrounded by her loving family and under the compassionate care of Brio Hospice.
Kim was born on November 27, 1956, in Elgin, Illinois, to Marjorie and Paul Dahlquist. She moved to Idaho in 1979, where she built a life rooted in family, service, and creativity. Throughout her life, Kim felt fortunate to enjoy the many jobs she held, including her time at Buttrey’s Grocery, working in accounts payable at Sherman Hospital, serving as a realtor and homemaker, and driving a school bus—an opportunity she cherished because it allowed her to be present for her daughter’s sports and activities.
A devoted member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Kim gave generously of her time and talents. She was especially active in the church kitchen and in its quilting ministry. Over the years, she created hundreds of beautiful quilts, many of which she donated to those in need because, as she once said, “they all needed one”. Her quilts were an extension of her heart, beautifully crafted expressions of her faith and compassion, carrying her love in every stitch.
Kim often said she felt deeply blessed in her marriage. She described her husband, Gary, as “the love of my life, a caretaker, and the most honest man I know,” a sentiment that reflected the deep bond they shared.
Kim is survived by her husband, Gary Ferguson, of American Falls; her son, Josh Zavison (Lacy), of American Falls; her daughter, Jen Unruh (Josh), of Sparks, Nevada; step-daughters Shauna Farver (Terry) and Brenda Carter (Hank); eleven grandchildren; five great‑grandchildren with another on the way; and her sister, Nicki Boedewig.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Marjorie Dahlquist; her sister, Tamara; and her brother, Steve.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in American Falls, with Father David Grube officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Falls View Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Kim’s name to Rising Stars Therapeutic Riding Center in Twin Falls, Idaho.
Kim will be remembered for her resilience, her creativity, and the deep love she held for her family and community. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched—and in every quilt she lovingly crafted.
