Lenard Raburn, known to some as Sunny, Doogan or Lenny, passed away on August 24, 2026, in Rockland at the age of 73. He was born on October 17, 1952, in Burley, and he lived in a way that made sure he would not soon be forgotten.

Lenard had a larger-than-life personality and an unforgettable presence. He was one of those rare people who can never be replaced. He loved to argue, was passionately committed to never using Google, and brought his own strong opinions to just about everything. Beneath that bold spirit was a generous heart and a willingness to help that made him someone people could always depend on.

He was a Vietnam Veteran and served his country in the Army as a Chinook Helicopter Mechanic, a role that fit him well. He later spent a lifelong career as a millwright and mechanic, retiring four years ago after many years of hard work and know-how. He took pride in what he did and in the life he built through steady hands, sharp skill, determination and a lot of cussing and shouting.

In 1974, Lenard married the love of his life and best friend, Jaynee. Their 52 years together were a remarkable partnership built on love, loyalty, and a lifetime of living. Lenard loved Jaynee passionately and wholeheartedly, with all that he was.

That honest, colorful way of seeing the world was part of what made him so distinctly Lenard.

He especially enjoyed helping Jaynee with her garden, from planting and tending to the harvest, and then helping her can and freeze-dry the food they grew. Their marriage was more than a partnership—it was a deep and lasting love that remained at the center of Lenard's life.

Lenard liked what he liked, and he made no apologies for it. He loved music, guns, and cars, and he was a Star Trek fan for life. He also had a fondness for mac and cheese and German chocolate cake. On the other hand, tamales, grits, catfish, and sitcoms,never won his approval. That honest, colorful way of seeing the world was part of what made him so distinctly Lenard.

Of all the things in his life, his proudest accomplishment was his three kids. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Jaynee Raburn; his son Jason Raburn; his daughter, Jaymee Chrostowski and her husband, Erick, along with their children Adrean, Alexis, Josh, and Kayla Jayne; and his son, Korey Raburn, his wife Pricilla, and their children Quianna, Quedyn, Devin, and Cassidy. He is also survived by his brother Dale Raburn and sister, Patty Orona; his lifelong friend, Cathy Phillips; and his cousin-brother, Bill Slaven, whose special bond with Lenard was a treasured part of his life. He leaves behind a family circle filled with stories, strong personalities, and the kind of love that lasts.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Raburn; his mother, Verdia Raburn; and his sisters, Janice Maxfield, Debbie Raburn, and Polly Raburn.

In lieu of flowers, Lenard would be honored if donations were made to American Falls Music in the Park in memory of Lenard and Button his dog.

Music in the Park held a special place in both of their hearts. Lenard and Button loved spending summer evenings together enjoying the music, the community, and the simple joy of being together. Each year, they proudly sponsored a band so that others could share in those same experiences. A donation in their names would be a meaningful way to continue something they both loved and supported.

The visitation will be at10:00 a.m. Friday August 28, 2026, at Davis-Rose Mortuary in American Falls, Idaho. The funeral will start at 11:00 a.m. Graveside with military rites will be at 12:00 noon at the Falls View Cemetery.
