Leona Faye Christensen, known to everyone, vehemently upon her request, as Lea, passed away in the company of her family on January 12, 2026.
Lea was the second born daughter of Robert and Lola “Rae” Johnson, born in Clarinda, Iowa in May of 1958. Lea graduated from Newcastle High School, in Newcastle, Wyoming. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth “Maury” Christensen; her sister Julie Johnson; her five children: Sharon (Morgan) Livingston; Curtis (Patricia) Hornback; Cassandra Tack; David (Kayla) Christensen; and Rebel Christensen; and her nine grandchildren: Claire-Marie Horton; Colter Horton; Gavin Tack; James Livingston; Fallon Livingston; Jack Livingston; Zoey Christensen; Rory Christensen; and River Christensen.
Everyone who knew Lea, knew her as a spitfire of a woman with a big heart and a love for animals, the outdoors, and her family, both blood and honorary. A long time collector of strays, animals and humans alike, she was fiercely protective over her "people." She went to bat on more than one occasion for her children and anyone she thought needed it. She spent many years on the Snake River with a fishing pole in her hand, often catching more rays than fish.
Lea was small but mighty and made an impact in the life of everyone she met. She will be greatly missed by her family and her community. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the local animal shelters and humane societies.
