Lorene Zimmerman

Lorene Zimmerman passed away peacefully at home on August 10, 2025. She was born September 3, 1941, in American Falls, Idaho, to Layton and Pauline Morris. The oldest of six children, she entered the world alongside her twin sister, Florene. Lorene cherished her childhood, holding a deep and abiding love for her parents and fond memories of playing with her neighbors, including the Gunner family.

On November 16, 1958, Lorene married the love of her life, David Zimmerman. Together, they built a life and marriage grounded in their shared faith in Jesus Christ—a true example of devotion and commitment. Lorene’s greatest joy was being a homemaker and caring for her beloved husband. She faithfully supported David in his work on the family farm and ranch, often saying the happiest time in her life was simply being by his side.

Lorene and David were blessed with a beautiful family: their son Robert (Jamie) Zimmerman of Ridgefield, Washington; daughters Jane (Scott) Thompson of American Falls, Idaho, and Julie (Rick) Campfield of Vancouver, Washington; and foster son Jim (Tena) Sprague of American Falls. Lorene was a proud and loving grandmother to 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Her generosity extended beyond her own family—she and David opened their home to host several exchange students from Germany, Switzerland, and Finland.

A dedicated and active member of her church, Lorene led by example. She taught Sunday school for most of her adult life, sharing her love for “little kids,” and served in many leadership roles, including overseeing women’s ministries and coordinating food for countless church events. She mentored young women in the church’s missionary program, consistently showing Christ’s love through her actions.

Lorene was known for her kindness and her gift for making everyone feel valued. She gave the best hugs and always took time to talk. In the kitchen, she was endlessly generous—making homemade meals for family, friends, and farm crews, and ensuring there was always dessert. She also kept plenty of soda and sweet treats on hand for anyone who stopped by. Her home was decorated in her favorite pink and green and adorned with her beloved collections of horses, frogs, and pigs. Music brought her special joy, and she loved to sing along whenever it played.

Her proudest accomplishment was living a life of love and faith, which she credited entirely to Jesus. She believed in loving people and treating others with kindness, seeing the world as full of love. That outlook guided her through life and brought her a deep and lasting peace.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to her devoted caregiver, Lety Alcaraz, whose compassion was a great blessing to Lorene in her final year.

Lorene is survived by her loving husband David, her siblings Linda Jacobson and Rickey Morris, all of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Layton and Pauline Morris; her twin sister, Florene Steen; her sister, Joy Ranstrom; and her brother, Johnny Morris.

A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday August 16 at Davis Rose Mortuary in American Falls.
