Marlene Woodworth

January 31, 1931 — August 5, 2023

Marlene L. Woodworth, 92, of American Falls, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 5, 2023. She has passed from Life to Life Everlasting and is now with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Marlene was born January 31, 1931, in American Falls, to Emil and Hilda (Roth) Mayer. Marlene graduated from American Falls High School in 1949 and then went on to attend Southern Idaho College of Education in Albion, ID and graduated in 1952.  Marlene taught elementary school in Aberdeen for several years and was very fond of her students and had a love and knack for teaching children. Marlene then married her childhood sweetheart, Delmar Leighton Woodworth, on June 8, 1952 at Bethany Baptist Church in American Falls and enjoyed 58 wonderful years of marriage.

Delmar and Marlene devoted their life to farming and raising their two children, Kathryn and Ken on the family farm in Heglar and Raft River, Idaho.  They continued farming with Ken until Delmar’s health declined and he passed in 2010. Marlene was always very proud of her husband and son farming and often reflected on the memories made. She was actively involved driving her teal bobtail truck, cultivating and topping sugarbeets, providing harvest meals, and running the rye crew.

Marlene was very active in church and spent many years teaching Sunday school to children of all ages. She was a talented musician and for many years played both the piano and organ for church services. Marlene enjoyed studying the bible, knitting, sewing quilts, traveling, gardening, entertaining and visiting with friends and family.

Marlene was a loving and devoted wife, a caring mother, a supportive grandmother, and a beloved great-grandmother. She served the Lord faithfully and was a witness with her deep prayer life to her children and grandchildren. She was thankful for, and loved sharing the many miracles in her life and family and deeply loved her Lord and Savior.

Marlene is survived by her daughter, Kathryn (Larry) Knight of West Virginia; her son, Kenneth (Cinda) Woodworth of American Falls; four granddaughters, Courtney (Austin) Wheeler, Kimberly (Heath) Wagoner, Stephanie (Christopher) Leatham, Lindsey Woodworth of American Falls; one grandson, Jarred Knight of West Virginia; and 8 great-grandchildren. Marlene is preceded in death by her parents, husband Delmar, brother Vernon and sister-in-law Arlys Mayer of American Falls.

The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the staffs of Edgewood and OneSource Home Health and Hospice for the kindness and care they all provided.
