Mary Catherine Colville

Mary Catherine Colville, age 83, passed away peacefully September 13 2015 at her home in Rockland.  She was a Rockland resident for 44 years.
She was born on December 7, 1931 in Salt Lake City to Leo Edward Vaughn and Emma Olive (Weir) Vaughn.  Catherine was raised in Salt Lake and later in San Francisco.  She attended San Francisco City College where she studied bookkeeping and accounting. She was employed by various businesses and accounting firms throughout her life, most notably the San Mateo County California Juvenile Detention Center, the Federal Aviation Administration in Salt Lake City, American Falls Produce, and County Line Farms, retiring in 1997.  Mom absolutely lived her life to the fullest, and got the most out of life.  She loved spending time with her family and was the Vaughn Family Reunion organizer for many years.  She was known as a self-starter and spearheaded many projects in her community and was a diehard Colorado Rockies fan.
She had a huge array of hobbies and interests and she was very involved in her community.  She traveled extensively after her retirement and even did an around-the-world cruise.  She loved knitting, needlepoint, sewing and quilting, arrowhead hunting, and was especially fond of the arts and theater and shared her love of these things with those around her.  She was an avid reader and frequently donated books from her own collection to the Rockland Community Library.  She participated for many years in the Rockland school reading programs where she would have the first grade students read to her.  She kept busy and involved in the community.  She served as Chief Election Judge for all elections held in Rockland, was a senior member of the Rockland chapter of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, served on the Rockland funeral committee, and she performed Family Search Indexing for the LDS church with the most number of indexing done each month. She also served on the Rockland City Council.
She is survived by her sons Dan (Tracey) of Petaluma CA. and Bret (Debbie) of Colorado Springs CO, and her daughter Donna of Pocatello; her grandchildren Candace Matonis, Nicholas Colville, Jacob (Taliesha) Rice, Danielle Colville, Dillon (Shayla) Rice, Mattie Rice, and Kristen Colville; her great-grandchildren Aaliyah, Jacob and Kaydon Rice.  She was preceded in death by her sister Mickey Greer, her brother Robert Vaughn, and her grandson Dan Colville Jr.

A graveside memorial service will be held on September 26, 2015 at 11 AM at the Valley View Cemetery in Rockland.  There will be a reception for friends and family at the LDS church in Rockland immediately following.
