Robert Bob) E. Mann

Robert Mann, 85, passed away at his home May 6, 2012. Bob was born October 22, 1926 in Aberdeen, Idaho to Edward and Clara Mann. He graduated from Aberdeen High School. While there he was a gymnast but his pride at this time was his Harley Motorcycle and he spent many hours cruising down the roads with his friends.
World War II came and he enlisted in the Navy. He had a great love for his country. He was sent to California to the Navy ship yards. He was assigned to the ship USS Hazelwood. While there his high school sweetheart, Verlene Lankford joined him and they were married July 9, 1945 in Valejo, California.
After his discharge they moved back to Aberdeen. He bought a farm north of Aberdeen where they lived until his passing. Many will remember his years as an auctioneer. He spent many years volunteering his time to the Boy Scouts of America serving as a scoutmaster. He received the Silver Beaver award for his many years of service. He was a member of the American Legion. He served as Chaplin for many years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and has many of his big fish mounted on his wall.
Bob is survived by his wife Verlene, three children, Pat (Dale) Palmer, Danny (Susan) Mann, and Becky (Tom) Shank, son-in-law Kenneth Oldfield; 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and a brother, Dennis Mann.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Betty Christensen and daughter Bonnie Oldfield.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday May 12, 2012 at First Mennonite Church, 381 W. Washington, Aberdeen, ID. The visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2012 at Davis-Rose Mortuary, 170 Idaho Street, American Falls and from 9-10:00 a.m. Saturday before the service at the church.
