Ronald Francis Morris, affectionately known as “Poppy” Ron, departed from this world on October 12, 2025, at the age of 82. He passed peacefully at home, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family, a testament to a life well-lived.

Born on March 3, 1943, Ron was a lively child with an aptitude for playing musical instruments. After learning to play the violin, he went on to play the guitar, a passion he continued for the rest of his life. Toward the end, Ron expressed to his family that his one regret was that he never played in front of anyone else, and he encouraged his family to pursue their dreams, regardless of others’ opinions.

For Ron, joy also came in the form of adventures both grand and simple. He and his wife spent the beginning of their time together in San Fernando Valley, California, where Ron enjoyed racing motorcycles and cars. He spent his days there delivering musical instruments and setting up recording studios for musicians like Elvis, the Jackson 5, and Stevie Wonder. When he moved his wife and young son to American Falls in 1978, he delighted in the great outdoors, embracing all of the opportunities for hunting and camping that came his way. Ron balanced play with work, dedicating 20 years of his life to Dam Lumber, where he made several lifelong friends. When he retired, he found fulfillment again in watching his granddaughters play sports and taking long drives around town with his canine companions.

Ron had many important people in his life who loved him deeply. His legacy continues through his immediate family: Linda Morris, his devoted wife of 56 years; Eric Morris, their loving son; Holly Morris, Eric’s wife; and their daughters and son-in-laws, Alyx and Cameron Spencer and Riley and Dallen Adkins. He is also survived by his six great-grandchildren, each of whom had a special relationship with “Poppy,” as well as his sister-in-law, Lorraine Lane. Not to be forgotten are his cherished family members from afar, including his “Tahoe family” from California: Dave, Margie, and Winnie Hammitt and Sean and Branden Fitzgerald. Ron will also be missed by his half-brother, Michael Pierson, and his California family.

As we reflect on his life, we will remember Ron for his unwavering support for his family, his dry humor, and his trademark bluntness—you never had to wonder what he was thinking, and that was part of what made him so special. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him, though it brings us comfort to know he is at peace after living a life full of adventure with the people he loved.

There will be a celebration of life to honor Ron’s memory on Sunday, October 26th from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM at The Millhouse Event Center in American Falls, Idaho. Family and friends are encouraged to come and share memories of Ron.
