Stephen James Croes

Stephen James Croes passed away on Jan. 4, 2020 at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho.

He was also known by nicknames Sam and Papa Smurf.

Born on April 25, 1942 to Joseph and Emily Croes of Spring Valley, WI Steve grew up and graduated from High School in Spring Valley and went on to work road construction, farming and cattle until he found his passion in beadwork and leather tooling.  He traveled the country doing his crafts at Rendezvous markets and made countless friends on his travels.

He enjoyed visiting friends, playing dice, tractors and working with cattle and horses.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Judith Seiffert and Frances Schaffner.

He is survived by one sister: Mary Kay (Jim) Schaffner of Spring Valley, one brother: Donald (Arlene) Croes of River Falls, two daughters Tania Piper of Fall Creek, WI and Tammy Miller-Janke of Fort Atkinson, WI and 11 grandchildren.
