Steven Niels Andersen was born September 9, 1947 in American Falls, Idaho, to his proud parents Arthur and Lucille. He was went home to the new family home that his parents built on their ranch south of Rockland, a blossoming farming community. Steve attended Rockland School grades 1-12, where he played football and basketball, graduating in 1966.
Steve and Machelle Daniels were married in 1971 and were later divorced. They were blessed with a daughter, Heidi.
Steve was a jack-of-all trades and an avid outdoorsman. He worked as a contract semi-truck driver, a hunting guide, and had a long career as a refrigeration specialist with the Lamb Weston potato processing plant in American Falls.
Retirement was an active time for Steve as he pursued his hobbies of photography, hunting, and fishing in the mountains and rivers of his beloved Idaho. In 2012, Steve traveled to Denmark with his sister and niece. He met many Danish cousins and greatly enjoyed the local food and beer. Because he was named after his grandfather, Niels Peter Andersen, Steve loved connecting to his Danish heritage.
Steve was also a life member of St John’s Lutheran Church in American Falls.
Brother Darwin, step brother Smiley Webster, sisters baby Judy Kay, Esther Hopkins, Dwen Jones and Nancy Crowder, along with his loving parents Arthur and Lucille preceded Steve in death.
Surviving Steve are his daughter Heidi Simms of Deltona, Florida (Brandon), granddaughter, Abigail and grandson, Connor. Also, a brother Kenneth (Donna) of Lewiston, Idaho, a sister, Sharon Cox of Sandpoint, Idaho, and a step sister Vernessa Rupe of American Falls. He was a favorite uncle among nieces and nephews, and a partner in crime with his adventurous cousins.
A graveside service will be held for Steve at Rockland Cemetery. Immediately following the services, family and friends are invited to a celebration of life luncheon held at the Rockland Cafe.
